Early Mill History The Donnelly Karri And Jarrah Company

The development of the fruit industry around the Blackwood created a need for packing cases and John Allnutt, together with a partner named Curtze, started a small fruit case cutting mill known as The Donnelly Karri and Jarrah Company beside the Donnelly River.

Early Mill History –  Wheatley Mill

In 1909 the Wheatley brothers, Thomas and William purchased Allnutt and Curtze’s mill on the Donnelly River enlarging the mill to cut Karri as well as Jarrah. Their mill then to be known as Wheatley Mill continued to operate as a family business until 1912.
